Where did 2024 go?

Well where has 2024 gone?  I’m sure someone pressed the fast forward button!

We’ve had a steady season here at Blue Waters not as busy as other years but we continue to welcome our regular guests who we look forward to seeing each year. Some have been coming to us for over 20 years but we’re always excited to meet some new ones too such as a wonderful family from Germany and another lovely lady from New Zealand – you can’t get much further from Mevagissey than that!

As usual Mevagissey had plenty going on in the village within our thriving community, with lots of events throughout the year.  Our visitors all commented on how they enjoyed their stay in this beautiful fishing village that I am luckily enough to call home.

Feast Week – Our Feast week at the end of June never disappoints, with a week full of activities there’s something for everyone, dates for 2025 are 29th June – 5th July.

Sea Shanty Festival – in October – this filled every pub and has grown into a major event for our small town and has proved very popular – dates for 2025 are 17th – 19th October

Christmas and New Year in Mevagissey is always fun – with plenty of fancy dress and lots of pubs and bars to visit.

The Mevagissey Museum has had a bit of a facelift and is looking very smart tucked away on East Quay between the Boatyard and The Watch House.

The Aquarium is always a favourite with young children and is free with a donation box by the entrance.

We are so lucky to have such great walks right on our doorstep, my favourite past time is walking the SW Coast path and I am trying to cover as much of it within Cornwall as I can.

Blue Waters is just a few metres from the SW Coast Path and one of my favourite walks is along the coast path to Pentewan and back – there’s a couple of steep bits but the  views down towards Mevagissey and out across St Austell bay are more than worth it.  At Pentewan there is a lovely typical Cornish Pub http://www.theshipinnpentewan.co.uk/

and a delightful little coffee shop that sell the best cakes around https://littlebaycornwall.co.uk

Another special walk I often do is the St just in Roseland – St Mawes circular walk – its about 6 miles but with St Mawes as the half way point there are plenty of places to stop for lunch and even go for a swim,  With views across to Falmouth and towards St Antony head finishing off with walking along the river and creeks – it has to be one of my top walks so far. See some of my pictures below…

I look forward to welcoming new and old clients to Blue Waters in 2025.
